How This Organisation Changed Shape
Anil Moonasar started this organisation to do two things that had drifted apart in Central Florida: keep people in their homes, and keep community life going. It began as an arts and culture society.
Over time the calls that came in were less about culture and more about rent, so the work moved with them. We filed our first return with the IRS for the 2018 tax year. In 2023 we updated our name to reflect what people were actually asking us for, and the IRS confirmed our 501(c)(3) status with effect from 5 May 2023.
The arts programmes did not stop. They sit alongside the housing work now rather than in front of it, which is why the legal name still carries both.
The Record So Far
2018 : First return filed with the IRS, as an arts and culture society
2023 : Renamed to match the housing work people were asking for. IRS confirmed 501(c)(3) status effective 5 May 2023, public charity status 509(a)(2)
Today : Six programmes running across Orange and Osceola counties from an office at 101 Rodale Street, Davenport, Florida
